Watford City Roughrider Fund

In 1998 the voters of Watford City approved a city sales tax for six years. Since then the voters have approved extensions three more times. The most recent vote in 2018 also eliminated existing caps, exemptions and expirations. All revenue collected is maintained in the “Roughrider Fund.”

Currently, the Roughrider Fund supports the debt repayment and operations of the Rough Rider Center with 50% of annual sales tax collections and the debt payment of the McKenzie County Healthcare System.

This fund is also designed to support future development of licensed child care services, diversifying the local economy through supporting small business starts and expansion and community enrichment, vibrancy and quality of life. Call the City of Watford City at 701-444-2533 for more information.
